Texas Heritage Music Days

The Texas Heritage Music Foundation, established in 1987, is celebrating its Silver Jubilee this year – 25 years of Texas music and traditions.   Texas Heritage Music Days take place Sept. 28 – 29, 2012.  This educational music festival is held in Kerrville every September, the birth month of Jimmie Rodgers.  Jimmie lived at 617 West Main in Kerrville for a time.  What is Jimmie’s connection to the festival? Previous titles for the celebration included:

  • Jimmie Rodgers Jubilee (c. 1987 – 1996)
  • Texas Living History Day ( 1997 – 2004)
  • Texas Heritage Living History Weekend (2005 – 2009)

This year’s program includes live performances and a songwriter’s workshop. We currently have a smattering of Texas Heritage Music Foundation items on display in the library.  Stop by to see some old posters, Jimmie Rodgers vinyl records and assorted memorabilia.   They will be on display for the next two weeks.

Congrats to Dr. Kathleen Hudson who helped make this festival not just last, but grow!
